Penzance | 1

it took an excruciating 8 hours in the car (which should've been 6 thanks to bank holiday traffic) but we made it to Penzance in one piece. even though the wet weather followed us all the way to the coast we were determined to make the most out of the long weekend and squeeze every drop out of this little town. so this post will be split into 2 (possibly 3) days of picture heavy posts.

one of the things i love about Penzance is the narrow alley ways and cobbled streets which make you feel like you could almost be in the south of france. it really is a mini holiday being in Cornwall and makes me fall in love with the South-West even more.

i can't be the only one that falls in love with the sound of the waves coming in to kiss the shore. being by the sea really puts things into perspective. something M read as we pulled into Penzance was 'spending time by the sea really does wash you worries away', as cliche as that sounds it's true in so many ways.

we stopped off for lunch at the cutest little restaurant called the Mackarel Sky Cafe. it really is a gem (also recommended on Trip Advisor) the owners are married and moved from London to start up the business in October. we had a little chat with Nina (the wife and owner) who served us and she told us how great it is living by the sea. sounds idyllic.

the fish is as fresh as you could get, sourced locally at the nearby fishing village and it was spot on. i had a fish taco which was so delicious, the meat was soft and tender. if you're ever in Cornwall be sure to give this place a visit.

oh we couldn't pass up a family photo op.

after a long walk up along the coast, back down on the promenade and through the town, we stopped off at The Dolphin pub to round the day off.

day two of our adventure will be up tomorrow. stay tuned
